So I've never really paid much attention to how fascinating goats are. This morning I was reminded of how God was very intentional with all of his creation, including us (we have a purpose too believe it or not). Anyway, there is a passage in 2 Samuel 22: 33-34 that reads,
33God is my strong Fortress; He guides the blameless in His way and sets him free.34He makes my feet like the hinds' [firm and able]; He sets me secure and confident upon the heights. (AMP)
I can remember situations in the past where I've had great opportunities laying ahead of me. In most cases, I believed I had the skills and ability to perform, yet, I often felt like I lacked the confidence that I would be able to stand and succeed. I was afraid of failing and afraid of the platform. These opportunities have often been platforms in which I hadn't experienced before and that would challenge me greatly.
Today, after seeing this passage I decided to look up pictures of goats. Throughout my life I've always seen images of goats climbing mountains and/or standing on the thinnest edges of a mountain and today I realized how none of them EVER look like they are fearful or worried. They typically look like they are supposed to be there. One thing I learned today is how God has created them with special feet to be able to climb steep mountains and stand firm at the edge. Crazy! Goats are G's (no pun intended).
This passage above says that God makes our feet like hinds (not literally of course) and he sets us secure and confident up the heights, or in my case upon the platforms that he wants to use to challenge and grow me. Recently I've been given another great opportunity and initially I began to have the same thoughts and feelings of fear that I've had in the past but today I choose to trust that God is my fortress and that he will help me stand firm and able no matter what platform I find myself standing on.
God's creation is beyond amazing! We can learn a lot when we stop and take the time to simply observe.
Be confident in the Lord!
